Welcome to Roose Animal Hospital. We are located in scenic, downtown Plymouth, MI  on W. Ann Arbor Trail. We are here to serve you, your pets, and the local community and have been doing so for the past 20 years. The health and well-being of your animals is of the utmost importance to our entire staff. Caring for your dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and other small pets is what we are here to do. Our goal is to continue to provide high quality veterinary medicine combined with individualized client education, professional communication, respect, and a healing environment.

  • Dr. Kevin C. Roose, Practice Owner

    Dr. Kevin Roose graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. He is an active member of the American Veterinary Association, Michigan Veterinary Association, The American Animal Hospital Association, The American Association of Feline Practitioners and The Association of Avian Veterinarians.
    Dr. Roose and his wife, Rosann, are both life long residents of Plymouth and take great pride in the city and township along with surrounding communities.  They are the proud parents of twin boys, Justin and Travis.  The youngest member of the family is Newman, a 2 year old black labrador retriever.
    Dr. Roose is a member of the Plymouth Lions Club and The Plymouth-Ann Arbor Elks Club.  When not helping animals, He enjoys spending time at the family cottage in Northern Michigan, boating, outdoor sports, golf and travel.
  • Dr. Karen Knight, DVM

    Dr. Karen Knight is a 2001 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University. Dr. Knight joined our team shortly after she graduated and has a special interest in avian and exotic medicine. She is an active member of the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians. She also works closely with many local avian rescues. Dr. Knight enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 children, and her many pets including JoJo the chihuahua mix and Oreo the tuxedo cat.
  • Dr. Jackie Devitt, DVM

    Dr. Devitt graduated in 2012 from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  She grew up in Livonia Michigan but currently lives in Northville.  She completed her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering but left a career in the automotive industry to pursue her passion for animals and veterinary medicine.  She is married with three kids - Evelyn, Lincoln, and Brennan.  In her spare time, she likes to visit family in Florida, swim and watch football.  Dr. Devitt started with Roose Animal Hospital in September 2017 and is enjoying being a part of our team. 
  • Michelle Bourbeau, LVT/Manager

    Michelle graduated as a licensed veterinary technician from Wayne County Community College in 2001 and has been with us ever since.  She currently co-manages the hospital, as well as, works as a veterinary technician.  When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her two boys, her fiancee and her Australian cattle dog Cleo.
  • Thyra Hensel, Manager

    Thyra has worked at Roose Animal Hospital since 2000.  She has been the hospital manager since 2008.  Thyra has 3 dogs, including a beautiful German Shepherd named Hansel, and 2 cats.  In her free time Thyra enjoys gardening.  Photo coming soon!
  • Channel Glaspie, LVT

    Channel graduated from the WCCC Veterinary Technician Program in 2016 and obtained her license shortly thereafter.  She has been with our team since May of 2016.  Channel enjoys drawing blood, as well as, keeping our patients as comfortable as possible.  In her free time she enjoys watching anime and playing video games.
  • Cara Ward, LVT

    Cara has been a licensed technician since 2014.  At home she has an elderly Papillon, a young Sheltie, 4 loud parrots, and a very patient human toddler.  She loves dogs and cats, but birds are her passion.  Around the clinic she is known as the "bird lady".
  • Virginia March, Head LVT

    Virginia obtained her degree and license in 2008, but has been with our team since 2001.  In her spare time Virginia attends nursing school and spends time with her husband and her two beautiful girls.  She has two tuxedo kitties Louie and Mickey. Her family enjoys gardening and caring for their chickens on their 11 acre farm.
  • Sarah Goodman, LVT

    Sarah has always been an animal lover and she decided to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine at a young age.  She graduated from Michigan State University in 2010 with a degree in Veterinary Technology.  Currently she does not have any pets of her own, but is very much a cat lover, specifically Siamese and Burmese kitties!
  • Stacey Toth, LVT

    Stacey obtained her degree and license in 2015.  She has happily been working with animals here at Roose Animal Hospital since February 2017.  Although she loves all pets, she has a special place in her heart for cats.  In her free time Stacey enjoys nature. 
  • Ursula Lopez, LVT

    Ursula has been with Roose Animal Hospital since September 2017.  She graduated from WCCC in May 2013 with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology.  In her spare time she enjoys going to country music concerts, camping and anything that involves the outdoors.
  • Trisha Cutright, Technician Student

    Trisha has been working at Roose Animal Hospital since 2013.  She's currently in her 3rd semester of Veterinary Technician school.  She is very passionate about veterinary medicine and loves to educate clients. In her free time she likes to spend time outdoors, camping, fishing and spending time with family and friends.  
  • Sue Branch, Head Receptionist

    Sue has been working at Roose Animal Hospital for the past 25 years.  She is our head receptionist and our resident cat whisperer.  In her spare time Sue rides motorcycles and breeds vizslas.  
  • Sharon Vandevelde, Receptionist

    Sharon has been with Roose Animal Hospital for 22 years.  During her time with us she has done almost every job.  She has been a receptionist for over 12 years. She is happily married with a wonderful daughter.  In her free time she likes sun, sand and boating.

  • Brooke Salna, Receptionist

    Brooke has been part of the Roose Animal Hospital team for 21 years. She is married with 3 kids.  She has a Labrador named Moose, a bird named Charlie and a bowl full of fish.  In her free time, Brooke enjoys spending time with her family.
  • Charity West, Receptionist

    Charity has been on our team for 15 years now.  She spent the majority of them assisting the doctors and technicians.  For the past few years she has been working as a receptionist.  She has two wonderful sons along with Lola "the pitty" pit bull and 3 cats. 
  • Megan Stroh, Receptionist/Assistant

    Megan has been working with the Roose Animal Hospital team since May 2017.  She enjoys all aspects of patient care.  Megan has a passion for all pets but, has a special place in her heart for cats.  In her free time Megan enjoy's spending time with her family.

  • Amanda Gaffney, Head Assistant

    Amanda has been with our team since 2007.  She is our head veterinary assistant and is currently attending school to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician.  When she is not at work she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
  • Kelly Bauschat, Assistant

    Kelly has been with our clinic since 2001.  She likes how every work day is different and loves seeing all of our patients.  When not at work, Kelly enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
  • Mary-Margret Boarts, Assistant/Receptionist

    Mary has been working on our team since 2016.  She has a German Shepard mix named Loki and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family as well as traveling. 
  • Emily Kolb, Kennel Assistant

    Emily joined our team in September of 2017.  Roose Animal Hospital has taken care of her family's pets since she was a little girl! As a Kennel Assistant she assists with surgery clean up, general cleaning and all the little odds and ends that help the hospital run smoothly.
